SIAE UK Capability
The SIAE UK capability allows for the creation of high confidence designs at modest cost, on account of the use of the worlds best desktop tools. These allow customers to quickly get a handle on outline costs in order to take deployment decisions. Once this stage has reached, the field survey work can then be completed, in conjunction with the Rig Operator, in very short timescale, yielding a complete fixed price implementation cost in very short timescale.
Engineers, Geologists and senior staff working on the oil rigs will have left their onshore office, where they've had fax machines, the latest PCs, broadband internet access and instant dial tones when they pick up the phone. On the oil rig, they need and expect those same capabilities and facilities to be available.
For oil exploration, time is money. Energy companies can pay many hundreds of thousands of pounds a day to lease rigs for oil exploration. To make the most of their exploration budget, clients require a reliable system to quickly deliver critical information from the oil rig to the head office engineering and geology staff. However, today's applications demand infrastructure solutions that can do so much more - the ability to cope with multiple protocols over a single, cost-effective, and highly resilient wide area network. This is where the SIAE UK capability comes into it's own based on the thousands of man-years of skills and experience in woreless telecommunications.
SIAE is no stranger to the requirements for manufacturing wireless equipment for reliable use in harsh environments - as an example refer to our Home page where the lead picture shows deployment of a microwave network located 4km high in the mountains, above the snow line, and in temperatures which regularly slip below -65C.
SIAE UK offers a powerful remote support package in addition to deployment of field engineers when required by our customers. Our support service operates on a 24/7 basis by remotely interrogating all the network elements deployed in the offshore network. This allows us to determine probelms at the earliest instance - evenbefore the customer is aware in many instances.
By taking advantage of the in-built test and diagnostic capabilities of SIAE equipment, and allied to the routine capture of historical parametric information, our Network Operating Centre is able to quickly decide to a high accuracy the exact nature of the fault, what action should be taken, and what spare is required (if any), thereby yielding very high rates of network availability.

The recovery of Oil and Gas plays a key part in meeting the world's energy needs and will continue to do so for many decades to come. The offshore recovery of Oil and Gas brings with it many unique challenges, and one of these is the need for modern and reliable communications solutions for data, voice, video, control and telemetry.
